The legendary ex-Chelsea boss took charge of the United States women's national team after exiting Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2023-24 season. Since taking the reins, Hayes has done a phenomenal job with her team as she guided them to an Olympic gold medal in Paris in the summer.

The Olympic champions are now preparing to take on reigning European champions England in an international friendly and ahead of the highly anticipated clash, the 48-year-old is caught in two minds over singing the national anthem of the country she works in and of her birthplace. Hayes, however, has found a solution to avoid any controversy.

Speaking to reporters, the record WSL-winning manager described the situation as a "weird moment", as she said: "It’s something I will hum along to as I always have done, being the English person that I am. I’ll also do the same for the American national anthem because I love both anthems."
